ISTE Standard 4. Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility
Overview
"Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices."
a. Advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sourcesI frequently stress the importance of making ethical choices on the Internet to both my parents and the staff I train. I want my students to respect the research and sources they are using as the hard work of another person, and to help them understand that hard work always deserves to be recognized appropriately. Artifact one is the wiki page my small group created about plagiarism and copyright/fair use. Artifact two is a page from a student's research project about animal habitats and adaptations where she cited her sources.
